LANCASHIRE CONSTABULARY - COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER TEAM

 

Are you interested in helping the Constabulary to police your City?

 

Would you like to be a valued member of the best performing police force in the country?

 

Can you spare three or four hours a week, at a time to suit yourself?

 

Would you pass the police vetting check?

 

If you can answer YES to all these questions, why not join the Constabulary Community Volunteer Team?   

 

The team was established in Preston in August 2003. Since that time it has gone from strength to strength, and now has almost 70 members.

 

The volunteers range in age from 18 to 84, and are from every part of the City. They are ‘vetted’ to the same standard as police staff. All have skills that the police have been able to make use of, and training is provided whenever necessary.  The police are eager to recruit more volunteers, particularly those who are prepared to help police officers and staff to maintain contact with the public, either by telephoning victims and complainants, or by helping the administration of  ‘P.A.C.T’ (Police and Communities Together) meetings.

 

Volunteers have become an integral and important part of the Constabulary and already perform task including helping on the Enquiry desk, in Communications Room, helping administration in Community safety, CID, Criminal Justice Section etc., providing crime prevention advice and working with Neighbourhood Watch Coordinator

 

       The work of the volunteers is proving of enormous benefit to the police, and to the public. They enhance

      every police service and are improving quality of life for every person living or working in the City of Preston.

 

Although the Constabulary reimburse legitimate expenses to the volunteers, they receive no salary. They do however gain considerable satisfaction and pleasure from their association with the Police; they work in police stations with police officers and staff, and are treated in every way as members of the Constabulary.
