Drug Dealing – the NHP team have continued to conduct high visibility patrols in the area wherever possible. The NHP team mentioned they had seen very little apparent activity during their tours of duty up to midnight and this has also been the case with additional patrols. Again there has been very little crime reported, there were just two for possession of drugs in this area over the month.
Speeding – This again was discussed with regards to the SPID and if we are to go ahead with putting one in place and it was agreed that figures would be obtained with regards to the impact that they have had in area’s where they have been put in place and if it has had much of an impact in reducing the speeding of vehicles.
Prostitution – The shrubs being cut back had improved the situation but it was pointed out by a member of the public that prostitutes are still using the area around Mercer Street and beyond. PC Jones informed the meeting that she had not seen any prostitutes on Fishwick but had moved on a homeless person from the bushes. The Operation on St Matts targeting prostitution has continued and the Police Senior management Team now recognise that this problem is affecting other areas, including Fishwick. It is hoped from this that further targeting will now include the area.
September
Drug Dealing – the NHP team have been conducting high visibility patrols in the area wherever possible. This has been supplemented by additional resources such as the armed response unit and traffic patrols. PC Jones mentioned she has seen very little apparent activity during her tours of duty up to midnight and this has been seen also on the surrounding streets by the additional resourcing. One attendee mentioned about activity around the rear of a solicitor’s practice on New Hall Lane and the fact that a rear gate has been ripped off allowing dealing activity to apparently go on in the rear yard. The NHP team and PCSO Copeland from Nimord will investigate this. PC Jones informed the meeting that a leaflet drop requesting further intelligence/information had been carried out in the area of around 200 houses. Not one response had been received back.
Speeding – PC Jones informed the meeting that she has a plain clothes operation arranged in conjunction with traffic officers next week. The meeting was also informed of the Speeding Campaign initiated by Cllr Rawlinson publicising the 20mph speed limit and that both Cllr Rawlinson and Sgt Herbert and PC Jones had met to discuss the issue and possible solutions in the past month. The meeting was informed about the possibility of being able to bid for a simple SPID (Speed Indicator Device) through LANPAC but the simple cost would necessitate some sort of match funding. The pros/cons of this system was discussed and PS Herbert pointed out that given the limited options available, a SPID was a viable option to consider.
Prostitution – the meeting was informed by PC Jones that no activity has been apparent in her patrols but there is lots of evidence of sexual activity according to residents around Cromford Walk.
