Area actions for November
Fireworks : Residents expressed concerns with the problems in regards to groups congregating and setting off fireworks off in the street Parking Issues : Several residents expressed concerns in relation to lack of parking areas for local residents and feel the problem is escalating. Street Drinking/ASB : Local youths are congregating in the bus stops causing ASB. Residents have expressed in relation to the litter, drinking and noise nuisance it is causing

Issues around the ginnel alongside 133 Longridge Road :Local residents have previously reported this problem over the past several months in relation to Anti Social Behaviour and acts in and around the ginnel. A number of actions have already been completed by the Police and there partners in order to tackle and reduce this problems. This has been a priority for a couple of months, but agencies and the Police have work ongoing and feel It beneficial to continue due to problems still being there Attention has been given to the area again by the local neighbourhood policing team and passing attention by patrol officers while in the area. There has only been one reported incident relating to problems in the ginnel since 5th September 2009. One Voice neighbourhood management are continuing their work for funding in partnership with Gateway which will provide a part funded fence to place on one side of the ginnel.
Parking issues around the Brookfield estate : Local residents have reported that there have been an increased number of vehicles parking incorrectly or illegally in and around the estate. Residents have expressed that the parking conditions are becoming a danger to other local residents and children Parking on the Brookfield estate is an issue and has been addressed through local police targeting offending vehicles for such offences as obstruction. Several residents have again been spoken to in relation to parking issues and the problem will continue to be monitored.
Speeding in and around the various streets and roads around Cromwell Road : Local roads in around Cromwell Road have recently seen an increase in speeding vehicles along with further problems in relation to the miss use and anti social use of vehicles.High visibility patrols and stop checks have been carried out on offending vehicles. Operation Pathway has continued in the area where vehicles have been spoken to regarding the manner of their driving, but also issuing fixed penalties for various offences.

It is felt that further attention is required to stop the problems returning and to help local partners with funding and improvement work to the area in coming months. Attention has been given to the area again by the local neighbourhood policing team and passing attention by patrol officers while in the area. Target Interventions and meetings with other agencies are to be carried out due to individuals being recognised. One Voice neighbourhood management are continuing to looking into the possibly of improving fencing in the area in partnership with Gateway

Parking on the Brookfield estate is an issue and has been addressed through local police targeting offending vehicles for such offences as obstruction. Leaflets were given to vehicles that were causing concern with 2 being removed for various offences

Issues around the ginnel alongside 133 Longridge Road : Problems continue in and around the ginnel that runs parallel with the motorway leading from Franklands Drive to Longridge Road and around the motorway bridge. This problem is ongoing in relation to Anti Social Behaviour, Damage and Noise Nuisance. Some problem solving work has been undertaking and will continue in the area. Attention has been given to the area again by the local neighbourhood policing team and passing attention by patrol officers while in the area. Only one call has been received regarding this issue since July. OneVoice neighbourhood management are continuing to looking into the possibly of improving fencing in the area
Dog Fouling The issue has been monitored in and around the estate by the local neighbourhood policing team and no increase of the problem has been noted. A meeting has taken place between RSPCA and Dog Wardens regarding this issue and a number of other dog related matters, the dog wardens are fully aware of the problems and advice has been given to local officers for evidencing the problems and the best ways in which to deal with potential offenders Speeding in and around the various streets and roads around Cromwell Road : Local residents have reported concerns regarding speeding vehicles along several roads mainly around the street and roads in the Cromwell Road area at various times throughout the day and evening. Speeding in the area has been monitored and local neighbourhood policing officers have conducted stop checks in the area when on patrol. Operation Pathway has been conducted in the area during the month aimed at educating drivers. Local Traffic officers have been notified regarding the issues and an increase in targeting of the area has been seen

Issues around the ginnel alongside 133 Longridge Road : The ginnel at the side of the property is attracting local youths to congregate and cause ASB and crime Patrols have been stepped up in the area and the ginnel has been checked on every occasion possible while on patrol by members of the Policing Team. Local response officers have also been notified of the problem while on patrol. There have been no incidents or crimes in the area in the past month. There have been no reports of local children or youths causing problems on the motorway or in the ginnel area. It is believed that a meeting has taken place with OneVoice and other partner agencies to look into the fencing in the area and an update is awaiting. Litter and Glass on Brookfield Park : Residents expressed concerns around the amount of litter and glass beginning to accumulate on Brookfield Park The problem has been reported to the cleansing department of Preston City Council to look at the area and collect any excess litter. The problem and area will be continually monitored for any further problems which may occur due to school holidays. Dog Fouling : Issues around Dog Fouling around the ward of Brookfield. Several residents expressed their concerns Notices have been placed up on lampposts in and around the estate given warnings and advice to dog walkers by Gateway and Preston City Council. It is hopefully that several more bins will be placed around the area to tackle the problem. A local operation for the problem is still awaiting contact from the dog warden.

Issues around the ginnel that runs parallel with the motorway leading from Franklands Drive to Longridge Road. Problems continue in the area in relation to anti social behaviour of a varying nature. There is also concern regarding the fencing in the area being broken in places which allows access to the motor embankment where children have been seen playing.High visibility patrols have been conducted in the area to reduce the opportunities for problems to occur in the area. There has been one incident of criminal damage nearby. A survey has been conducted of the area from the M6 Southbound and it has been confirmed that it is physically not possible for children to play in that area. The only area that children may have access to is the security and safety paths that lead to the side of the motor which must be in place for motorway safety but will continue to be checked and monitored.
Dog Fouling This problem has been raised a large number of public footpaths and open spaces and litter with dog mess and this is causing concerns with local residents as it is unsightly and there is potential harm to children.The dog warden has once again been notified of the problems in the area as have Preston City Council NEAT team. There has been no confirmation of an increase in dog litter bins and an operation is still in planning to tackle the matter.
Longridge Road Motorway Bridge An issue has been raised in relation to speeding vehicles at the bottom end of Longridge Road where it meets the motorway bridge. There have been several accidents over recent years and residents are concerned that there will be a serious accident in the future.Councillor Ellard is to update residents regarding potential for speeding restrictions devices such as humps or chicanes. The new pelican crossing on Longridge Road is now nearly installed and should help to slow traffic. Two separate operations have been run in the area aimed at Summer Drink Driving but also traffic offences and speeding which has also helped to reduce problems.

Dog Fouling This issues is one that has been raised at several other Police & Communities Together Meeting around the wards of Brookfield & Ribbleton. It has been reported to Preston City Council Dog Warden team for attention. Local neighbourhood officers have been monitoring open spaces where dog walkers visit. Consideration is being given to undertaking a project/operation in conjunction with the dog warden to provide education and enforcement regarding this problem.
Issues around the ginnel that runs parallel with the motorway leading from Franklands to Longridge Road . Local youths causing ASB, damage and dangers to motorists by throwing items at passing vehicles. The area at the side of the motorway has been given attention and there have been no incidents of note in relation to the motorway. The matter will be passed to Police motorway patrols for there information and patrol. One Voice Neighbourhood Management has been informed of the problem and is looking into the owners of the fencing and how this can be improved. Local councillors will also be informed of the issue.
Empty Properties on Oakworth Ave. Attracting Youths Local neighbourhood officers have been giving empty properties known to themselves extra passing attention and there security has been checked on several occasions. Empty Gateway properties have also been monitored and reported to themselves for the consideration of tinning.
