Residents are advised to be wary of uninvited doorstep callers claiming that they are from United Utilities and are in the area making billing queries.

A male rang the doorbell of a residential property in the Ashton on Ribble area of Preston. The property was occupied by an elderly couple.

Lancashire County Council Trading Standards is warning residents to exercise caution with regard to the following: Several individuals have been recently evicted from Kendal Auction Mart, and are currently believed to be cold calling at houses in the Morecambe and Lancaster area.
10 June 2005 Residents are advised to be wary of anyone leafleting houses using an 0800 free phone number and driving a white van with "roofing and guttering specialists” in green lettering on the side.
10 June 2005 Consumers are advised to be wary of a mobile phone scam where a missed call relating to the number 07094626058, or other variants starting with 0709, comes up on the phone. |
