Eldery Residents accomodation Males knocking on doors looking for work Frightening Residents

Enquiries have been made with West Yorkshire Trading Standards and West Yorkshire Probation Service, both of whom have no knowledge of ex-offenders doing door to door calling. I have liaised with Preston Trading Standards and contact is ongoing, looking into the possibility of making the effected area a “no cold calling” zone. Fortunately there does not appear to be any incidents of crime attributable to the males in question.

Parking Lytham Rd /Brook Street

I have monitored Lytham Rd around its junction with Brook St and done a door-knock at houses on each block at that location, to canvass local opinion and spoken with staff at the Hairdressers. The overall view being that parking is not too bad at all. I have involved Parkwise, who have attended and will give it passing attention. I will continue to monitor the area.

Black Bull Lane:Vehicles speeding and inapropriate speed around busy school time .

With the assistance of  the Road Policing Unit, I have done speed enforcement on Black Bull Ln near to BG Fencing and on Conway Drive near to Kilworth Heights, using a laser speed detection device. Average speeds were in the mid 20’s mph, the highest being 37 mph. Several drivers were stopped and advised.

Car Parking Haddon Place/Lytham Road

Tony had looked at the parking during the day and had found no problems but he hadn’t looked at the issue in the early mornings as he only started shift at 8am. He said he would look at it again on an early start one morning. A resident said that after the letter drop that Iain had done she had photocopied the letter and put on car drivers windscreen if necessary.

Contact Neighbourhood Watch re; Terrorism

Iain had contacted the neighbourhood coordinator and as yet had no reply, the course was a “one off” on the 23rd Aug and was a role play of what you would do if there was a terrorist incident. Tony said he would see if he could find out if they would do any more or give a talk to the group.

YOUTH DISORDER, DRINKING AND ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR

1 Iain said that both he and Neil do regular patrols when on duty unfortunately Hillcroft and Landsown hill seem to be having big problems with youth disorder and he would keep an eye on the situation.

2

LITTER BOYS LANE

Neil reported that he had not seen any problems with the litter but when he did he asked the youths to put the litter in the bins provided.

A resident remarked that she had seen children from what she thought was “Our Lady’s” with a teacher going for the swimming lesson and the pupils had thrown litter! It was suggested that if this happened again she should ring the school in question.

Obstruction parking issues Hawkhurst Ave,Garstang Road,Blackbull Lane and Queens Drive

CBM PC Iain Shrager and PCSO Neil Higgins had been round the area on a few occasions and found on one occasion maybe one car that could have been accused of obstruction. They have been round to all the staff at the Banks, Travel agents and Estate agents to warn them and customers to park considerately without causing obstruction.

One resident asked if we could have some signs in all of the businesses to ask the public to park considerately. Iain said he had already put letters in the windows of the businesses but would organise some more signs.
